Minutes of Funk

Intercontinental Groove Station

Listen Again: 12-1-2016, Erin_FM in Session

Last week on Minutes of Funk we had the conveniently named Erin_FM (www.stewartavenue.net) behind the decks playing an hour (6:30pm-7:30pm) of house, disco, and rare groove, taking us from Afrika Bambatta to Andres and beyond. In the first and last half-hours we played some dusty jazz-funk, a selection of deep Cuban tracks from Gilles Peterson's Havana Cultura project, the enigmatic sound of Saâda Bonaire, and a beautiful reggae-inflected cover of Orange Juice's "Rip It Up" by Frankie Knight (forthcoming on XVI Records).
