Minutes of Funk

Intercontinental Groove Station

Listen Again: 19-01-2016, N3NiM in Session

We kept it warm and groovy in the studio during last week's Minutes of Funk with Nigerian disc jockey N3NiM in session during the second hour, talking to us about his passion for funk and afrobeat and playing some quality records from his collection as well as some of his unreleased edits.

I held it down in the first hour with a worldwide mix including some Cuban rumba (Havana Cultura Band), Algerian rai (Hakim Hadouche, Cheika Rimitti) , Swedish bossa nova ("A Bossa Eletrica" with an incredible cover of Roy Ayers' "Everybody Loves the Sunshine"), Colombian cumbia (Nidia Góngora), Larry Heard's MLK mix of "Can You Feel It", and more.

Next week (Jan 26) my guest will be DJ and producer Haarschnitt (https://soundcloud.com/haarschnitt).
