Minutes of Funk

Intercontinental Groove Station

Listen Back: May 3 Hot Tracks

Hot tracks throughout this week's Minutes of Funk show, featuring a ton of new releases and re-issues to keep the energy flowing throughout. Lots of afro heat including heavy Nigerian disco boogie from Tony Grey, a contemporary sub-bass heater by Ibibio Sound Machine, and Hugh Masekela's classic "Don't Go Lose It Baby" from 1984. New cumbia from Paito ("Mejor Que Me Mate Dios"), new desert blues from Imarhan ("Tahabort"), and new steel pan sounds from Bacao Rhythm and Steel Band (covering Cat Stevens' "Was Dog a Donought). Also featuring the brand new single from Books on XVI Records (both A and B sides!) and a new edit by The Reflex of Haitian artist Henri-Pierre Noel's "Funky Spider Dance". Enjoy.
