Minutes of Funk

Intercontinental Groove Station

Listen Back: September 19

Live on a rainy Monday evening in Brooklyn, starting off with a few deep and groovy spiritual jazz cuts to set the tone before moving onto some funky Turkish psych-rock (Barış Manço) and a fantastic Jamaican version of Rapper's Delight (Prince Blackman). A handful of old or refreshed Brazilian and Colombian musical explorations and some brilliant new releases from Senegal (Baaba Maal), Rajasthan (Shye Ben Tzur, Jonny Greenwood and The Rajasthan Express) and Brooklyn/Guinee (Super Yamba Band ft. Ismael Kouyate). Rounding off the show with some UK dancefloor flavor from John Arnold, with Detroit legend Amp Fiddler, and Dego with the 2000Black Family. Tracklisting below. Enjoy.
